(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – In an alarming turn of events, a 58-year-old woman was arrested for falsely reporting a gunshot victim, prompting a swift police response on the evening of October 4, 2024.

At approximately 7:46 PM, officers from the Second Platoon responded to a distress call regarding a female who had allegedly been shot in the head. Arriving at the east-side intersection, they were met by the caller, Lilly A. James, who directed them to a house further down the road.

While speaking with James, she claimed to have received the information about the supposed victim from a third party. However, as the investigation unfolded, it became clear that the incident was entirely fabricated. Officers quickly determined that no gunshot victim existed, leading to James’s arrest for falsely reporting an incident in the third degree.

James was taken into custody without incident and transported to Jamestown City Jail for processing. Following her arrest, she was released on an appearance ticket. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
