(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – A routine patrol turned into a significant arrest Saturday morning when Jamestown Police apprehended 29-year-old Robbie M. Stearns, who had outstanding felony and bench warrants. The incident occurred at approximately 7:17 AM in Brooklyn Square, where officers observed Stearns walking and recognized him as a wanted individual.

Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s First Platoon were conducting their patrol when they spotted Stearns, who was known to have active warrants for his arrest. The warrants included charges for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence, alongside several bench warrants stemming from previous failures to appear in court.

Upon approaching Stearns to execute the arrest, police reported that he refused to comply and actively resisted their attempts to take him into custody. A brief struggle ensued, prompting officers to deploy a conducted electrical weapon (TASER) to safely subdue Stearns. He was subsequently taken into custody without further incident.

In addition to the original charges related to his outstanding warrants, Stearns now faces an additional charge of resisting arrest. He is currently held at the Jamestown City Jail, pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
