(WNY News Now) – A Randolph man wanted by Pennsylvania authorities was arrested following a routine encounter with deputies in Cattaraugus County.

Randolph, N.Y. – On October 2, 2024, at approximately 2:46 PM, deputies from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Charles W. Riddell, 38, of Randolph, New York, after discovering he was wanted as a fugitive from justice in Pennsylvania.

The arrest took place on Sheldon Street in Randolph, NY, where deputies were initially investigating an unrelated incident. During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that Riddell had an active fugitive warrant issued by the Pennsylvania State Police.

Following his arrest, Riddell was transported to the Town of Cold Spring Court, where Judge Barber remanded him to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Jail. He is currently being held without bail, awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania to face charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
