(WNY News Now) – A year-long investigation into a fraud scheme targeting Chautauqua County has led to grand larceny charges against a Georgia woman, with stolen funds recovered in a multi-agency effort.
Chautauqua County, N.Y. – On July 27, 2023, at approximately 12:42 PM, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office announced the filing of charges against 38-year-old Nikita Robinson from Augusta, Georgia, following a detailed fraud investigation. Robinson is accused of participating in a grand larceny incident that defrauded Chautauqua County of a significant sum of money.
Authorities reported that Robinson allegedly received a large sum of fraudulently obtained funds, which triggered an intensive year-long investigation. Collaborating with the Chautauqua County finance department and a financial institution, law enforcement successfully recovered a large portion of the stolen money.
The investigation culminated on October 7, 2024, when Robinson was arraigned in Chautauqua County Court on the charge of Grand Larceny in the Second Degree. She was later released following the arraignment. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office was supported by the Department of Homeland Security, Georgia law enforcement agencies, and the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office.
