(WNY News Now) – A routine patrol in Gowanda led to the arrest of a local woman wanted on an active warrant, followed by her release on her own recognizance.
On October 9, 2024, at approximately 1:20 PM, deputies with the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office arrested Beth L. Skurzewski, 44, of Gowanda, New York, during a routine patrol. Deputies observed Skurzewski walking along the sidewalk on North Chapel Street and recognized her as the subject of an outstanding warrant issued by the Town of Napoli Court.
Following her arrest, Skurzewski was transported to the Town of Conewango Court, where she was arraigned before Judge Johnson. After her arraignment, Skurzewski was released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to address the charges under CPL 530.70. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
