(WNY News Now) – An early morning patrol led Jamestown Police to apprehend a suspect carrying stolen copper pipe and burglary tools near a downtown business.

Jamestown, N.Y. – On the morning of October 27, 2024, at approximately 8:50 a.m., Jamestown Police Department officers patrolling the area of West 4th Street near Mechanics Alley observed a man later identified as Cody E. Reichenbach, a 30-year-old homeless individual, in possession of a large section of copper piping and tools designed for pipe cutting. The officers quickly detained Reichenbach and conducted an investigation, which revealed that the copper pipe had been removed from a nearby downtown business.

Reichenbach was arrested on charges of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree, and Possession of Burglar’s Tools. After being taken into custody without resistance, he was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he remains held pending arraignment at the Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
