(WNY News Now) – A pre-dawn fire on Dow Street in Falconer left a garage in ruins and caused damage to nearby buildings, with investigators tracing the blaze to a malfunctioning electrical outlet.

Falconer, N.Y. – In the early hours of October 28, 2024, at approximately 2:18 a.m., Falconer Fire Department, along with mutual aid units, responded to a garage fire at 125 Dow Street in Falconer. Crews worked swiftly to extinguish the flames; however, the structure was deemed a total loss, and damage extended to several neighboring properties.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Fire Investigation Team arrived on the scene to determine the fire’s origin and cause. Following a thorough investigation, officials identified a faulty electrical outlet within the garage as the ignition point for the fire. Despite the extensive structural damage, no injuries were reported.
