(WNY News Now) – Dunkirk, NY — Effective immediately, the City of Dunkirk Police Department has issued a travel ban due to deteriorating road conditions caused by severe weather. The ban, implemented in coordination with the Mayor’s Office, Department of Public Works, and Fire Department, is in place until further notice.
Only essential workers providing critical services in infrastructure, public health, and safety are permitted to travel. Officials emphasize the importance of limiting non-essential movement to allow emergency crews to manage the situation effectively.
Important reminders:
• Keeping vehicles off the road will help facilitate snow plowing and ensure emergency vehicles can access the streets safely.
• Residents are asked to follow alternate parking regulations to assist with snow removal efforts and allow easier access for emergency responders. All vehicles must be moved to the alternate side by 5 PM.
Residents are advised to stay indoors, monitor updates, and prepare for potentially extended restrictions.
Stay tuned for further updates from city officials.
