(WNY News Now) – Hanover, NY – A routine traffic complaint turned into a DWI arrest Saturday evening when a Dunkirk resident was found driving erratically on RT 5 and 20 in the Town of Hanover.
Deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a vehicle swerving across the roadway at approximately 5:46 p.m. Upon locating the vehicle, officers conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as 39-year-old Leonela Soto of Dunkirk, NY.
An investigation revealed that Soto was driving while intoxicated. She was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI per se, Unsafe Lane Change, and Improper or Unsafe Turn Without Signal.
Soto was processed and released with tickets to appear in Town of Hanover Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
