(WNY News Now) – Jose E. Roman, 38, was arrested early this morning on charges of robbery, criminal contempt, and endangering the welfare of a child following a domestic dispute in Southside Jamestown.

At approximately 1:10 AM on January 10, 2025, officers from the Jamestown Police Department responded to a call for a domestic dispute at a residence on the Southside. Upon arrival, they discovered that 38-year-old Jose E. Roman of Jamestown had forcibly stolen the victim’s glasses and physically restrained her in front of two young children.

Further investigation revealed Roman’s involvement in several criminal acts during the altercation. After taking the victim’s property, he proceeded to hold her down, putting the children in an alarming and dangerous situation.

As officers attempted to arrest Roman, he resisted, grabbing one of the young children, a 3-year-old, in an apparent effort to prevent his arrest. Despite his aggressive actions, officers were able to safely remove the child from his grasp and place Roman into custody.

While in the back of a patrol car, Roman reportedly began kicking the vehicle’s window and door, causing significant damage to the police car. This resulted in an additional charge of criminal mischief.

Roman has been charged with robbery in the third degree, criminal contempt in the first and second degrees, unlawful imprisonment, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal mischief in the third degree. He was held pending arraignment at the Jamestown City Court.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
