Tragically, a dog perished in the fire. Significant fire extension in the stud channels complicated efforts to contain the blaze, requiring firefighters to ventilate the roof and open walls and soffits.

One firefighter was transported to Olean General Hospital for a medical evaluation. The extent of their condition has not been disclosed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
