(WNY News Now) – A 30-year-old man was arrested for driving while intoxicated and other charges following a high-speed crash into a Northside church on January 17, 2025.
Jamestown, N.Y. – Jamestown Police officers observed a motor vehicle accident on the Northside early Friday evening. The incident occurred when a vehicle struck a church at a high rate of speed and attempted to flee the scene.
Officers from the third platoon quickly located the vehicle a short distance away and conducted a stop. Through their investigation, they determined that the driver, identified as Archie J. Nichols, 30, was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Nichols was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), DWI Per Se (with a blood alcohol concentration over 0.08%), leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and operating a vehicle at a speed not reasonable and prudent.
The crash caused property damage to the church but no injuries were reported. Nichols was released on traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
