(WNY News Now) – WESTFIELD, NY – Authorities arrested two individuals following a domestic dispute early Saturday morning at a residence on Union Street.
Samuel J. Cettell, 45, and Crystal L. Cettell, 43, face multiple charges, including criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, obstructing governmental administration, and resisting arrest, according to the Westfield Police Department.
Incident Overview
At approximately 4:00 a.m. on January 18, 2025, officers from the Westfield Police Department and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department responded to a domestic disturbance at 35 Union Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered evidence of significant property damage allegedly caused by Samuel Cettell. Police say he kicked in multiple doors during the dispute while a minor child was present. Authorities allege he also prevented another individual in the home from calling 911 and pushed Crystal Cettell during the altercation.
Crystal Cettell reportedly became uncooperative with officers, allegedly ripping a wooden handrail from the entryway, slamming a door, and attempting to flee the scene.
Both individuals resisted officers during their arrest, further complicating the investigation.
Samuel Cettell is charged with:
- Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree (2 counts)
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child
- Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree
- Resisting Arrest
Crystal Cettell faces charges of:
- Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child
- Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree
- Resisting Arrest
The pair was arraigned in the Village of Westfield Court and later transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for further processing. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department assisted Westfield Police in the investigation.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
