(WNY News Now) – Darryl D. Cavness, 40, of Jamestown, was arrested early this morning on Buffalo St. following a traffic stop, facing multiple charges including DWI and drug possession.

Jamestown, N.Y. – On January 23, 2025, at approximately 3:17 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Buffalo St. after observing 40-year-old Darryl D. Cavness behind the wheel of a vehicle. Authorities were aware that Cavness’s driving privileges had been revoked due to prior DWI convictions.

During the stop, Cavness failed field sobriety tests, leading officers to arrest him for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and DWI Per Se. In addition to the DWI charges, Cavness was found to be in violation of multiple other laws, including Aggravated Unlicensed Operation First Degree, for operating a vehicle without a valid license, and Operating a Vehicle Without an Ignition Interlock Device, which is a violation due to previous DWI offenses.

Further investigation revealed that Cavness was in possession of a controlled substance, leading to an additional charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (CPCS 7th).

Cavness was taken into custody and held pending arraignment. He will appear in Jamestown City Court to answer to the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
