(WNY News Now) – An Orchard Park man has been sentenced to nine months in jail for a hit-and-run that left a woman seriously injured and a toddler with minor injuries.

Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced that Justin A. Wnuk, 43, of Orchard Park, was sentenced to nine months in jail and had his driver’s license revoked following a hit-and-run incident. The sentencing occurred before State Supreme Court Justice Debra L. Givens.
The incident took place on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m. Wnuk was driving a sedan westbound on Hunters Ridge Road in Orchard Park when he struck a 69-year-old woman who was pushing a stroller along the roadside. After the collision, Wnuk fled the scene without reporting the incident to authorities.
The victim sustained multiple serious injuries, including a head injury and fractures to her knee, hip, and spine. She was transported by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) for treatment. The child in the stroller, a female toddler, suffered minor scrapes but did not require hospitalization.
Orchard Park Police located Wnuk a short time later, and he was arrested. On November 12, 2024, Wnuk pleaded guilty to one count of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Resulting in Serious Physical Injury, a Class E felony under New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. Prosecutors noted that Wnuk pleaded guilty to the highest charge without any reduction in severity.
District Attorney Keane praised the efforts of Orchard Park Police Lieutenant Michael Mackey and Officers Alex Vranic, Michael Lococo, and Kelly Wyrough for their swift response and thorough investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Christine O. Murray and Natasha G. Greenan from the Vehicular Crimes Bureau.
