(WNY News Now) – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of Western New York, warning of snow and freezing rain creating hazardous travel conditions through early Monday.
The advisory, issued at 1:21 p.m. on February 2, remains in effect until 6:00 a.m. on February 3. Light snow and freezing rain are expected, with total snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches and minor ice buildup. Freezing drizzle may persist overnight, further increasing travel risks.
The affected areas include Southern Erie and Wyoming counties, as well as the western Southern Tier. Residents should anticipate slippery roads and reduced visibility. Motorists are urged to drive with caution, reduce speeds, and allow extra time for travel.
The NWS encourages the public to report snow and ice conditions through their website or social media channels.
