(WNY News Now) – Rep. Nick Langworthy votes in favor of landmark bill to safeguard hydraulic fracturing and prevent executive overreach in domestic energy policy.

Washington, DC – Congressman Nick Langworthy voted to pass the Protecting American Energy Production Act, also known as H.R.26. This legislation prevents the Executive branch from unilaterally imposing a ban on hydraulic fracturing without congressional approval, ensuring uninterrupted domestic energy production.

Congressman Langworthy, who is the only Republican from New York on the Energy and Commerce Committee, has long supported the safe extraction of natural gas as part of America’s energy portfolio and has criticized Governor Hochul for imposing a politically driven ban in New York. New York’s 23rd Congressional District sits atop the Marcellus Shale, and hydraulic fracturing is being done safely just across the border in Pennsylvania.

“Democrats’ extreme Green New Deal policies have destroyed domestic energy production, causing huge spikes in costs for Americans and making us more reliant on foreign energy,” said Congressman Nick Langworthy. “These radical policies have crushed our economy and made our nation less secure. This bill prevents any president from enacting a unilateral ban, safeguarding one of America’s most vital energy sources. This is an important step at the federal level, and I will not stop fighting until this ideological ban is lifted in New York as well.”

Earlier this week, Congressman Langworthy participated in an Energy and Commerce hearing on restoring America’s energy dominance. Watch his questioning below by clicking on the image.
