(WNY News Now) – PORTVILLE, N.Y. – A Friendship woman was taken into custody early Saturday morning after authorities discovered she had multiple active warrants during a traffic stop.
According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, Tonya R. Hadsell, 32, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped on Portville Eldred Road at approximately 1:10 a.m. on February 8. During the stop, Hadsell provided deputies with a false name and date of birth, claiming to be her sister. However, inconsistencies in the information led to further investigation, revealing her true identity.
Authorities then confirmed that Hadsell had an active felony warrant issued by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, as well as an additional warrant from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office. She was taken into custody and transported to the Cattaraugus County Jail, where she was held pending further court proceedings.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
