(WNY News Now) – PORTLAND, N.Y. – A Hanover man was arrested for driving while intoxicated and multiple traffic violations following a traffic stop in the town of Portland on Saturday night.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted a routine patrol stop around 10:20 p.m. on February 15 after noticing a vehicle operating without headlights. Upon further investigation, the driver, identified as 38-year-old Christopher D. Woods of Irving, was found to be intoxicated.
Authorities determined that Woods was also driving with a revoked license. He was taken into custody and transported to the Sheriff’s Office substation in Pomfret for processing. Woods was charged with DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation, and operating a vehicle without headlights.
He was later released with tickets to appear in Portland Town Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
