(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, and Northern Cayuga Counties due to lake-effect snow. The advisory remains in effect until 4:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21.

Expected Conditions

  • Snow Accumulation: An additional 4 to 7 inches in areas experiencing persistent lake-effect snow.
  • Timing: Snowfall is expected to continue through Wednesday evening and into Thursday morning.
  • Impacts: Hazardous travel conditions are anticipated, particularly during Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.

Motorists should prepare for rapidly changing road conditions and reduced visibility in areas affected by lake-effect snow. Those traveling should exercise caution and allow extra time for their commute.

The National Weather Service encourages residents to submit snowfall reports via their website or social media to help monitor conditions.
