(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, and Northern Cayuga Counties due to lake-effect snow. The advisory remains in effect until 4:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21.
Expected Conditions
- Snow Accumulation: An additional 4 to 7 inches in areas experiencing persistent lake-effect snow.
- Timing: Snowfall is expected to continue through Wednesday evening and into Thursday morning.
- Impacts: Hazardous travel conditions are anticipated, particularly during Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.
Motorists should prepare for rapidly changing road conditions and reduced visibility in areas affected by lake-effect snow. Those traveling should exercise caution and allow extra time for their commute.
