(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie counties, effective from 4 a.m. Thursday, February 20, to 4 a.m. Friday, February 21.

Lake effect snow is forecasted to bring total accumulations of 3 to 6 inches, with the highest amounts near the Lake Erie shoreline and Chautauqua Ridge. Lower accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are expected in southern and eastern Cattaraugus County.

Hazardous road conditions may develop, particularly during the Thursday morning and evening commutes. Sudden reductions in visibility and rapidly changing road conditions could make travel difficult.

Motorists should exercise caution, allow extra travel time, and be prepared for quickly shifting weather conditions in lake-effect snow bands. The NWS encourages residents to report snowfall totals via their website or social media.
