(WNY News Now) – Clymer, NY – A Chautauqua County man was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI) early Sunday morning after his vehicle veered off the road and became stuck in a snowbank.

Deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident on Main Street in Clymer at approximately 3:59 a.m. on February 16, 2025. Upon arrival, they located 31-year-old Tyler C. Thompson of Ashville, NY, inside his vehicle, which had gone off the roadway.

Thompson was uninjured and was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Following an investigation, deputies determined that he had been operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Thompson was taken into custody and transported to the Sheriff’s Office for processing.

He was charged with DWI Per Se, DWI Common Law, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and moving from a lane unsafely. Thompson was issued appearance tickets and released. He is scheduled to appear in Clymer Town Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
