(WNY News Now) – WESTFIELD, NY – A cooking accident in the kitchen resulted in a house fire in Westfield on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire at 9 1st St in the Village of Westfield on February 22, 2025, at 12:28 p.m. The Westfield Fire Department, along with mutual aid crews, quickly worked to extinguish the blaze.
Following suppression efforts, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was called to determine the fire’s origin and cause. Investigators concluded that the fire started in the kitchen due to a cooking accident.
Authorities remind residents to exercise caution when cooking and ensure working smoke detectors are installed in homes.
