(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY – A Massachusetts man was taken into custody early Saturday morning after police determined he was driving under the influence with a young child in the vehicle.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the 3rd Platoon conducted a traffic stop on the city’s south side around 1:08 a.m. on March 1, 2025. The driver, identified as 54-year-old Ramases Zambrana of Springfield, MA, was found to be intoxicated while operating the vehicle with a 3-year-old passenger inside.

Further investigation revealed Zambrana was in possession of 1.1 grams of fentanyl. He was taken into custody and transported to the City Jail, where he was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

Zambrana faces multiple charges, including Aggravated DWI with a Child in the Vehicle under Leandra’s Law, DWI, DWI Per Se, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
