(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Jamestown man was arrested Monday morning after allegedly attempting to burglarize a Southside residence while the homeowners were inside.
On March 3, 2025, at 9:47 a.m., Jamestown police officers responded to a burglary in progress. A caller reported a man dressed in black trying to enter their home. Officers arrived and found the suspect inside the attached garage.
Officer Kraft and K9 Kal confronted the suspect as he exited. When officers attempted to detain him, he resisted arrest but was taken into custody after a brief struggle. He initially provided a false name due to outstanding warrants.
Police identified the suspect as Michael E. Wolfe, 46, of Jamestown. A search revealed he had burglar tools and was attempting to steal property from the residence. Wolfe was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and charged with second-degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, petit larceny, criminal impersonation, and resisting arrest.
Following his arraignment in Jamestown City Court, Wolfe was released in accordance with New York State bail reform laws. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
