(WNY News Now) – An ice jam currently moving through Cattaraugus Creek is under close monitoring, with authorities preparing for possible flooding.

An important notification has been issued through NY Alert regarding an ice jam on Cattaraugus Creek. The jam is currently being closely monitored by local officials, who are prepared to issue further alerts in the event of flooding.

Residents in the area are advised to stay informed and alert. Should the situation develop into flooding, authorities will notify the public through several channels, including NYAlert, which will send an alert directly to mobile devices. In addition, three one-minute blasts from local fire sirens will sound as an immediate warning. Social media posts will also be made to update the public as necessary.
