(WNY News Now) – Dunkirk, NY – March 10, 2025 – The Dunkirk City School District Board of Education has announced a leadership transition set to take effect on July 1, 2025. Superintendent Michael Mansfield, who has held the dual role of Superintendent and Business Administrator since April 2020, will shift to a full-time position as Business Administrator.

Board of Education President Ken Kozlowski expressed deep appreciation for Mr. Mansfield’s leadership and dedication to the district. “Throughout his tenure, Mr. Mansfield has guided our district through the COVID-19 pandemic, a comprehensive district reconfiguration, and the planning and launch of an $83 million capital project. Under his leadership, we have also introduced promising academic programs, navigated rising district expenses, ano strengthened our long-term financial planning.”

The decision to transition Mansfield to a full-time Business Administrator comes as the district faces evolving financial demands. In his new role, Mansfield will focus on budgeting, fiscal planning, and financial operations to ensure continued financial stability and growth.

To fill the Superintendent position, the Board will conduct an internal search, believing that a current district leader is best suited to maintain the district’s progress.

“The Board is committed to a smooth transition and believes this leadership shift will strengthen both our educational and financial priorities,” added Kozlowski. “We sincerely thank Mr. Mansfield for his dedication to Dunkirk City Schools and look forward to working together to ensure a seamless transition.”
