(WNY News Now) – HINSDALE, NY – A routine traffic stop in Hinsdale led to the arrest of a local man on an outstanding bench warrant Sunday night, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies took John W. Blakely Jr., 50, into custody at approximately 10:09 p.m. on March 9, 2025, during an unrelated incident on Main Street. Authorities later determined that Blakely had an active bench warrant issued by Franklinville Town Court.

Following the arrest, Blakely was processed and released with an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Franklinville Town Court in April to address the warrant. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
