(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY – A Jamestown man was arrested early Friday morning after officers conducting a routine street check discovered an outstanding warrant and a quantity of methamphetamine on his person.
At approximately 1:58 a.m. on March 14, 2025, officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 3rd Platoon conducted a street check at 708 Foote Avenue. During the check, officers identified Steven M. Lester, a 39-year-old Jamestown resident, who was found to have an outstanding warrant issued by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
After confirming the warrant, officers took Lester into custody. During a search, officers discovered a quantity of methamphetamine on his person. As a result, Lester was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree.
Lester was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is currently being held pending arraignment at Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
