(WNY News Now) – SHERMAN, NY – A routine traffic stop in the Town of Sherman resulted in the arrest of two men on outstanding warrants, with one also facing drug-related charges.
On March 14, 2025, at approximately 12:32 p.m., the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Mt. Pleasant Road for an observed traffic violation. The driver, identified as Philip A. Decker, 26, of Dunkirk, was found to have multiple felony warrants issued by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, deputies discovered a small quantity of cocaine in his possession.
Decker was taken into custody and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, where he was arraigned on the felony warrants, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, and multiple traffic violations.
A passenger, identified as Larry M. Houser, 40, of Mayville, was also found to have several misdemeanor arrest warrants. Houser was taken into custody and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for arraignment.
Both individuals were processed through the Centralized Arraignment Program. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
