(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, NY – A Jamestown man was arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (DWAI) following a traffic stop on Fairmount Avenue, according to the Town of Ellicott Police Department.

Police say Hector J. Guzman Oyola, 37, was stopped at 8:12 a.m. on March 9, 2025, after officers observed his vehicle traveling westbound at a high rate of speed and operating erratically. Upon making contact, officers noted signs of impairment and administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which led to his arrest.

A Drug Recognition Expert was called in to assist with the investigation, confirming Guzman was suspected to be under the influence of drugs. In addition to the DWAI charge, he was issued multiple traffic citations.

Guzman is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to face the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
