(WNY News Now) – PERRY, N.Y. – Jonathon L. Bucknam, 45, a former resident of Perry, pleaded guilty on Thursday, March 27, 2025, to two counts of third-degree rape, a Class E felony, before Wyoming County Court Judge Donald G. O’Geen.

Bucknam admitted to engaging in sexual intercourse with two separate victims under the age of 17 while he was over the age of 21. The offenses occurred in February 2023 and January 2022 in the Village of Perry.

Bucknam faces up to four years in state prison per count, along with five to 15 years of post-release supervision. His sentences could be served consecutively. He is also required to register as a sex offender, in addition to his current Level Two designation from a prior third-degree rape conviction in 2017.

Judge O’Geen revoked Bucknam’s bail following his guilty plea, ordering him to remain in custody until sentencing on May 8, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.

The case was investigated by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations and the Village of Perry Police Department. It was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Chelsie Hamilton, while Wyoming County Public Defender Leah Nowotarski represented Bucknam.
