(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY – A 23-year-old Jamestown man faces multiple charges following a suspected drunk driving incident early Sunday morning.

Officers from the Jamestown Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on the city’s north side around 2:53 a.m. on March 31. While en route, they received reports that one of the vehicles involved had fled the scene.

Authorities located the suspect vehicle shortly after near Lincoln Street and East 5th Street. Upon investigation, officers determined that Dalton V. Kopp had been operating the vehicle while intoxicated. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the city jail, where his blood alcohol content (BAC) was found to be nearly twice the legal limit.

Kopp was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), DWI Per Se, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation (AUO) in the Third Degree, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Consumption of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, and multiple equipment violations.

He was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
