(WNY News Now) – HANOVER, NY – A routine emergency response led to the arrest of a local woman for driving while intoxicated on NYS Route 20.

On April 2, 2025, at approximately 8:35 p.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an Assist Fire/EMS call on NYS Route 20 in the Town of Hanover. During the response, deputies observed a vehicle disobeying a traffic control device.

Following an investigation, deputies determined that Joeleen S. Stevens, 47, of Irving, was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Stevens was taken into custody and charged with Reckless Operation, Disobeying a Traffic Control Device, DWI Per Se, and DWI.

She was later released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Hanover Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
