(WNY News Now) – Town of Ellicott Police say a Jamestown man provided a false name following a domestic dispute response.

ELLICOTT, NY — A Jamestown resident has been charged with false personation following a police response to a reported domestic dispute on March 31, 2025.

According to the Town of Ellicott Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence around 8:20 a.m. after receiving a call regarding a domestic incident involving two individuals.

Upon arrival, officers say a man fled from the back of the residence. When stopped, the subject allegedly provided a false identity to authorities. Following a brief investigation, police identified the man as 32-year-old Mark R. Burch Jr., of Jamestown.

Burch was subsequently charged with false personation and issued an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to face the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
