(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man is facing multiple charges after allegedly striking a telephone pole and leaving the scene of the accident early Thursday morning.
JAMESTOWN, NY – According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the Third Platoon responded at approximately 2:35 a.m. to reports of a vehicle crash involving a telephone pole near the intersection of Willard Street and Allen Street. Upon arrival, officers located the damaged vehicle parked near Swan Street and quickly determined that the crash had occurred on Willard Street.
The driver, identified as 22-year-old Mason J. Harmon of Jamestown, was found to be operating the vehicle at the time of the crash. Officers noted the vehicle sustained significant damage.
Harmon was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where chemical testing revealed a blood alcohol content nearly twice the legal limit. He was charged with Failure to Keep Right, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident, Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), and DWI Per Se.
Harmon is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
