(WNY News Now) – Matthew L. Grimes was arrested on April 18, 2025, after fleeing into a nearby forest following a reported larceny in Great Valley.

On April 18, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., law enforcement responded to a larceny complaint in the area of Hungry Hollow Road in Great Valley. Patrol units were alerted that the suspect, identified as Matthew L. Grimes, had fled the scene and entered the nearby New York State Forest.

Officers quickly launched a search for the suspect in the wooded area. After an extensive search, Grimes was located on a walking trail within the forest and was taken into custody without incident.

Following his arrest, Grimes was escorted from the forest and transported to the Cattaraugus County Jail. He remains in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings in connection with the larceny incident. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
