(WNY News Now) – WHEATFIELD, NY — A brush fire near the railroad tracks on Lockport Road escalated into a structure fire that damaged Blue Ox Roofing on Sunday evening, April 20, 2025.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., the Niagara County Communications Center received reports of a possible brush fire near 2139 Lockport Road. Responding patrol units found the fire had spread to a large pile of wooden pallets near the Blue Ox Roofing building. A responding fire chief confirmed that the fire had reached the rear of the structure, with heavy flames visible.

Multiple area fire companies responded quickly to the scene, working together to bring the blaze under control. The building sustained damage, and a vehicle registered to the business was also affected. No injuries have been reported at this time.

Assisting on the scene were firefighters from Bergholz Volunteer Fire Company, Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company, Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station Fire Department, Lewiston #2 Volunteer Fire Company, and Niagara Active Volunteer Fire Company. Tri-Community Ambulance and the Niagara County Fire Coordinator’s Office also provided support.

The Niagara County Fire Investigation Unit is leading the investigation into the cause of the fire. The total extent of the damage remains undetermined.
