(WNY News Now) – A routine traffic stop in the Town of Ellicott led to multiple charges against a 49-year-old man, including drug possession and driving while intoxicated.
Ellicott, N.Y. – On April 18, 2025, at approximately 11:33 a.m., the Town of Ellicott Police Department conducted a vehicle stop for a driver allegedly exceeding the 55 mph speed limit. The driver, identified as Jeffrey A. Seekings, 49, who is currently homeless, was found to have an active warrant from Jamestown City Court.
During the stop, officers performed a search incident to arrest, during which they allegedly discovered a quantity of suspected narcotics. Seekings was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia. Additionally, police charged him with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (DWAI-Drugs).
Authorities report that Seekings refused to submit to a chemical test at the time of arrest. He was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment.
Seekings is scheduled to appear in Ellicott Town Court at a later date to respond to the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
