(WNY News Now) – A 20-year-old Jamestown man faces multiple charges after fleeing officers in a vehicle and later resisting arrest on foot.

JAMESTOWN, NY — A Jamestown man was arrested early on April 24, 2025, following a brief vehicle pursuit and foot chase after fleeing from police.

At approximately 12:34 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 3rd Platoon were dispatched to a Westside address in response to a reported fight. Upon arrival, police observed a vehicle rapidly leaving the area of the alleged altercation. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver, later identified as 20-year-old Anthony V. Rivera, did not comply with the stop.

A short vehicle pursuit ensued, but Rivera soon lost control of his vehicle, striking a curb before it came to a halt in a nearby yard. Rivera then fled on foot, but officers quickly pursued and apprehended him after a brief chase.

Rivera was charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree, resisting arrest, and driving while intoxicated (DWI). Additionally, he was issued multiple traffic tickets for infractions committed during the pursuit.

Rivera is currently being held at the Jamestown City Jail, pending his arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
