(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown resident was arrested Wednesday evening after police discovered a young child wandering alone on Lakeview Avenue.
JAMESTOWN – On April 30, 2025, at approximately 8:24 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 2nd Platoon encountered a concerning scene while responding to an unrelated emergency call. A small child, approximately four years old, was found walking alone in the middle of Lakeview Avenue, dressed only in a diaper and a shirt.
Further investigation revealed that the child had wandered away from a nearby residence under the care of Tre L. Frank, a 30-year-old Jamestown resident. According to police, Frank was responsible for supervising the child at the time of the incident.
The child was safely reunited with family members shortly after officers intervened. Frank was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.
He has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
