(WNY News Now) – Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Mayville man for violating a court order, leading to his remand to county jail.

MAYVILLE, NY – On May 9, 2025, at approximately 8:35 a.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported violation of an order of protection in Mayville.

Following an investigation, deputies determined that Anthony L. Ward, 49, had violated a valid and active court-issued order. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Ward was taken into custody during the early morning hours of May 10, 2025, at approximately 1:18 a.m., by deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail and remanded pending further court proceedings.

Ward is charged with Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date to answer to the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
