(WNY News Now) – A routine traffic stop in Olean led to the arrest of a local man wanted in Pennsylvania.
On May 6, 2025, at approximately 9:20 p.m., deputies from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on West River Side Drive in Olean, New York. During the stop, deputies identified the driver as Marques A. Gayton, a resident of Olean.
Upon investigation, it was determined that Gayton had an active arrest warrant issued by the City of Bradford, Pennsylvania. Following protocol, deputies took Gayton into custody without incident.
Gayton was transported to the City of Olean Criminal Court for arraignment. After his court appearance, he was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail, where he remains held pending extradition proceedings to Pennsylvania. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
