(WNY News Now) – The National Weather Service Buffalo has issued a Frost Advisory from 2:00 AM to 8:00 AM EDT on May 20, warning of low to mid-30s temperatures across several Western New York counties that may harm vulnerable outdoor vegetation.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Buffalo released a Frost Advisory early Monday, May 19, in effect from 2:00 AM to 8:00 AM EDT Tuesday, May 20. Temperatures are expected to drop into the low to mid-30s Fahrenheit, creating conditions favorable for frost formation.

The advisory covers Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties. Residents with sensitive or tender plants outdoors are advised to take precautions to prevent frost damage, as exposure to freezing temperatures can harm or kill vulnerable vegetation.

Gardeners and farmers in the affected areas should monitor local forecasts and prepare accordingly.
