(WNY News Now) – A young child remains in critical condition after being struck and trapped under a vehicle on Ellicott Road in the Town of Hartland Monday evening.
Town of Hartland, NY — On Monday, May 19, 2025, at approximately 5:09 p.m., the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a motor vehicle accident involving a child on the 7300 block of Ellicott Road.
Deputies arrived to find a young child unconscious and pinned beneath a vehicle in the driveway of a residence. Emergency responders, including law enforcement, EMS personnel, fire crews, and community members, worked together to quickly extricate the child.
Following the rescue, lifesaving measures were initiated at the scene. Mercy Flight transported the child to Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, where they are currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit and listed in critical condition.
According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, the incident appears to be accidental. All individuals involved are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
Responding agencies included deputies from the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police – Lockport, Middleport Village Police Department, Wright’s Corners Volunteer Fire Company, Mercy EMS, and Mercy Flight Western NY.
