(WNY News Now) – Police arrested a 30-year-old Jamestown man early Wednesday morning after he resisted arrest during a street check prompted by active bench warrants.
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – On May 21, 2025, at approximately 12:04 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s third platoon conducted a street check on the 3rd Street Bridge that resulted in the arrest of 30-year-old Jeremy D. Lyons.
According to police, officers observed Lyons walking along the bridge and recognized him from previous encounters, knowing he had outstanding bench warrants issued through the Jamestown Police Department. When officers approached and attempted to take him into custody, Lyons reportedly began resisting by pulling away from them.
Following a brief struggle, officers successfully detained Lyons and transported him to the Jamestown Police Department. He was charged with resisting arrest in addition to the active bench warrants.
Lyons is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
