(WNY News Now) – A Buffalo resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated and multiple traffic violations following a crash on Route 241 in Conewango.
CONEWANGO, NY — The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37-year-old Mark A. Swiatek of Buffalo on Saturday, May 24, after responding to a reported motor vehicle accident on Route 241 around 9:30 p.m.
Deputies arriving at the scene found evidence indicating the driver had left the roadway and failed to maintain his lane. Further investigation revealed that Swiatek was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Swiatek was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to keep right, failure to maintain lane, and driving at a speed not reasonable or prudent.
He was taken into custody without incident and later released on his own recognizance. Swiatek is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
