(WNY News Now) – Ernest R. Travis Jr. faces multiple felony charges following a criminal investigation by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.

CATTARAUGUS COUNTY – The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Ernest R. Travis Jr. on May 20, 2025, following an investigation conducted by the department’s Criminal Bureau.

Travis was charged with Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person in the First Degree, and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree. These charges stem from evidence gathered during the course of the investigation, though specific details of the incidents have not been made public at this time.

He was arraigned in the Town of Ellicottville Court before the Honorable Judge Germain. Following the arraignment, Judge Germain ordered Travis released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear at a later date in Town of Great Valley Court for further proceedings.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
