(WNY News Now) – A 23-year-old inmate faces a felony charge after allegedly breaking a window inside the Niagara County Correctional Facility.
LOCKPORT, NY — The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of Lazarus M. Martin, a 23-year-old incarcerated individual, following an incident at the Niagara County Correctional Facility on May 29, 2025.
According to Sheriff Michael Filicetti, Martin was involved in an altercation in which he allegedly punched and shattered a facility window. The damage is estimated to cost more than $1,700 in repairs.
As a result, Martin has been charged with one count of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, a class D felony under New York State Penal Law.
Martin is scheduled to be arraigned in Niagara County Central Arraignment Part Court and will receive a return court date for the Town of Lockport Court, where further proceedings will take place. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
