(WNY News Now) – A 20-year-old Mayville resident was arrested after allegedly striking another person during an altercation that also endangered a child.
MAYVILLE, N.Y. — The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to an altercation in the Village of Mayville on Friday, May 30, 2025, at approximately 8:58 p.m.
Following an investigation, deputies alleged that 20-year-old Gaven M. Crandall of Mayville physically struck another individual during the incident. Authorities also determined that a child was present at the time, prompting additional concerns for the child’s welfare.
Crandall was taken into custody at the scene and charged with Harassment in the Second Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
He was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, where he was held pending arraignment through the Centralized Arraignment Program (CAP). As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
